Oatmeal Craze Sweeping Britain

Dec 11, 2009 Posted by: Mary | Source: Diet-Blog

If you thought oatmeal was for dour Scots and miserable kids, think again! The health benefits of oatmeal have seen it take off as one of Britian’s favorite breakfasts.

Oatmeal, called “porridge” by us Brits, has taken off in recent years. I’m used to seeing “porridge bars” catering for hungry commuters at London’s big train stations, and I’m not the only one who’s noticed this trend.

Would You Eat Lab-Grown Meat?

Dec 10, 2009 Posted by: Mary | Source: Diet-Blog

Over the past few years we’ve seen several attempts to “grow” meat in laboratories. Scientists in the Netherlands have just announced a new attempt, creating a version of pork.

The o2 Diet

Dec 9, 2009 Posted by: Mary | Source: Diet-Blog

At first glance I thought The O2 Diet was something about oxygen. I had visions of oxygen merchandise (like $4.95 bags of oxygen that you could heat in the microwave). The O2 Diet, by nutritionist Keri Glassman, is actually about anti-oxidants.

New York based Glassman wrote the Snack Factor Diet back in 2007 – which was essentially an approach based on eating 5 meals a day.

The new diet is based around a food’s anti-oxidant levels.

They’ve basically given overweight people an excuse to spend more hours in front of the TV screen in the name of exercise. Now with the FXB (Fun Xercise Bike) overweight children can ride through a virtual world of fitness.

Book Review: Body by Eats

Dec 9, 2009 Posted by: Mary | Source: Diet-Blog

One of my favourite movies of all time is a lesser-known film from early this decade called Donnie Darko. Richard Kelly’s underground hit was shunned by big studios largely due to its myriad of genres, and henceforth lack of identity.
